New Dances: SAMBA BELLA and CHRISTMAS IS THE BEST

Jennifer Choo Sue Chin | December 8, 2020

Time really flies in this pandemic, in a wink of an eye, it’s December again. If your area are in a lockdown again, I hope you continue to dance at home. Keep those joints and muscles moving.

Since my last post, I have released 2 dances collaborated with my good friends. The dances are:

  1. SAMBA BELLA – choreographed with Penny Tan and Winson EWS – 48c 4w phrased int samba flavour line dance
  2. CHRISTMAS IS THE BEST – choreographed with Philip Sobrielo – 32c 4w intermediate nightclub smooth line dance

Both have received amazing response from dancers worldwide, it’s always very humbling to see videos popping up on YouTube supporting our choreography. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching and/or learning my dances.

Do click on the links to the dances to view the stepsheets and videos. The dancers are fabulous, do check them out.

I’ve also been posting up online teaches and walk-throughs of not just my choreography on my new YouTube channel, so do check them out. Remember to subscribe if you haven’t! I do wish I have more time to put up more videos of new and old dances.

Here’s wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2021. I hope the pandemic will come to an end soon so we can start to dance socially again. Meanwhile, continue to stay safe and healthy! The light is at the end of the tunnel, and we will get through this stronger and better. Cheers!

New Dance: The YAYA Dance (Party Animal)

Jennifer Choo Sue Chin | October 5, 2020

So after MCO, when Janice and Winson came to do a video shoot for Keep Flying, we had some near friends (Ivy, Soo, Adeline & Wendee) over for tea, just to gather-gather after our lockdown. It’s been so long since we met each other and I them of an interesting party song I heard on radio. The song is Party Animal by Mayday, a popular rock band from Taiwan. Everyone immediately took a liking to it and we started choreographing to it immediately. So yeah, it’s a dance made together at the same time at the same place! And that happened in July 2020!

The dance is phrased accordingly to the music, so we don’t recommend memorizing the sequence. Just dance to the music. Steps are not too difficult so dancers can enjoy and party all night oh oh…

After my eye surgery and recovery, we quickly arrange to meet up to shoot a group video. The video was shot at one of our friends’ beautiful bespoke home. We had a fun afternoon and a gracious host who made yummy food for us and a creative videographer as well. Everyone felt like a movie star (haha) and carrying luggage filled with costumes and accessories, as if we were going to the airport! Oh how we missed the airport and wished we were really going on a trip!

Anyway, here the dance video, which received tremendous compliments. If you haven’t saw it yet, do check it out!

New Dance: Home Is Where You Are

Jennifer Choo Sue Chin | May 24, 2020

Dance Name: HOME IS WHERE YOU ARE
Choreographed by: Rebecca Lee, Jennifer Choo
Description: 32 counts 2 Walls  intermediate nightclub dance
Music: To Mommy by Wang Yibo
Stepsheet: https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/home-is-where-you-are-ID142349.aspx

This is a tribute to all mothers! Jit Lian, one of the Lim Sisters sent me the music (To Mommy by Wang Yibo) and I was touched by it immediately. Do check out the lyrics translation! When discussing with Rebecca Lee on having the Mother’s Day special online dance event, we decided to collaborate for this beautiful tribute song.

Rebecca and I have been talking about a collaboration since years ago but never came round completing one. Sometimes halfway into it but some other choreographers released another dance to the same music. We finally did it! It’s a 32 counts 2 wall intermediate nightclub line dance with a restart. I was supposed to teach this dance for the Mother’s Day event but due to an unfortunate retina hole 3 days before the event, I was not able to teach it. Rebecca taught it on my behalf. And I did a teach video a week after to give my ‘lasered retina’ a rest. I’ve been reducing my screentime as well, thus this article came a little late.

Stay healthy everyone!

Here are some videos:

Sophia (Taiwan):
