Dancing with Joyce Lim in Singapore
Jennifer Choo Sue Chin | August 18, 2009I was in Singapore for work from 27-31 July 2009 and spent an evening with Joyce and her advanced line dance students in their class.
This is the 2nd time I visited her class, the earlier was about a year earlier, and I visited her beginners class.
An hour before Joyce picked me up from my office, she texted me to ask me what I was gonna teach…!! I was unprepared and still at work. However, having learnt a new dance a week earlier, I decided to share that dance as the script was not yet published in the usual sites. Jannie (Denmark) sent me the script a few days earlier but I had not the time to look at the script. Quickly browse through the 3 pages and realised that though I’ve learnt the steps the week b4, I’ve not actually danced it in full as I hadn’t been feeling well (been coughing for a month!)!!!
Arrived in Joyce’s class. She revised the dances she taught the week before and taught 3 dances. Wow, that’s how they keep up with so many new dances each week! Her 3 dances are Passion (Tom Mickers & Lilian Lo), Amy (Kate Sala) & Before I Fall In Love (Sophitia Christiansen). I really love Passion as it was so well choreographed, and reminded me of my own Innuendo as it has a familiar “butterfly” movement.

I then impromptu-ly taught them Boom Boom (Jose Miquel Belloque Vane) in 10-15 mins and they loved it. I am surprised that they managed to learn in such short time and the dance itself, is not too easy to teach or learn! 😀 Joyce had indeed taught them very well!

As I may need to travel to Singapore again soon, I look forward to dance with Joyce and her students again! Till then!
