Here we come, America!
Jennifer Choo Sue Chin | August 23, 2011There are many things in life you dreamt of doing but never think you’ll ever get to do. Like being atop Mount Everest, or visit to the Moon. I’ve never thought I’d have the opportunity to visit North America as it’s just on the other side of the globe! With the low value of the Ringgit, and the high cost of the flights, things just seemed impossible. But all that opportunity came with line dancing!
I met Robert Mah in Shanghai last year. I was supposed to meet his late wife, Carmen, but she didn’t make it. Robert was adamant to keep Carmen’s spirit dancing by organising a dance event, something he regretted he didn’t do when Carmen was still alive. He invited me to visit Carmen’s home and come teach at the event he is organising. And now, 1 year down the road, it’s time. I’ll get to visit the places and things Carmen told me about.
Robert has organised Celebrate Dance! which is a 4 day dance event from 1-4th Sept, to be held in Holiday Inn Burlingame, Toronto. Among the instructors there at this event are Scott Blevins, Rachael McEnaney, John Robinson, Michele Perron, Amy Christian and many more. Check out the site! I’ll be teaching some of my latest dances and some of other choreographers’.
I look forward to visit the Great Falls – Niagara! Another thing to strike off my bucket list! 🙂 Jan and I are flying off to Canada this Saturday, yay! That’ll give us some time to recover from jetlag, meet up with the many line dance friends we’ve made and some sightseeing! Also to help Robert prepare for this maiden event. Can’t wait!
As WOW San Francisco is just the weekend after (8-11 Sept), Robert, Jan and I would then fly to San Francisco. The US is anyhow ‘so close’ to Canada, it’ll be a huge waste if I don’t fly in and dance there! So, yup, US, here we come! So looking forward to meet the friends we’ve met at WOW Shanghai and friends we’ve met on FB!
And visiting the beautiful city of San Francisco. Can’t wait to see the famed iconic Golden Gate Bridge with my naked eyes. We’ll be joining a 1-day city tour and a 4-day local tour after the event, and thereafter, fly back straight to KL. It’ll be a fun-filled 3 week dance vacation for the both of us!
So looking forward to everything and counting the days! Here we come, America!
p.s. I hope I would have some time and internet connection to blog about my trip from time to time! Stay tuned! 😉
