Amy Christian’s Workshop 13 Dec 2008
Jennifer Choo Sue Chin | January 13, 2009This is a 1-month-delayed posting! I was waiting to edit and upload all the videos first before writing! And I finally became a little freer to do all of them and had them uploaded overnight!
As she had for the past 2 years, Amy Christian-Sohn has been visiting us here in KL and gladly shared an avalanche of dances she enjoyed recently. It saddened us when she left and moved to get married in the US at the end of 2007 (after the 2nd workshop) but we’re glad that she is coming back yearly and could continue this little rendezvous with us annually.

Below are the avalanche of dances she shared with us within a couple of hours and we’re all really not bad to remember all of them, at least at that point of time!! And the videos will help our mind to recall what we actually did during the workshop. Click on them to open the video link!
- Sting Me (Pam Leader & Ray Crum) – One of my favourites in the workshop! Although my feet were dead tired after so much dancing, I can’t resist to pick up this one. Song is lovely and the choreography complements the song. Even Margaret who was nursing a surgery wound can’t resist this one.
- Let’s Bachata (Amy Christian-Sohn) – Amy’s latest choreography. Something new to most of us, to do the Bachata hip work!
- Work Work Work (Amy Christian-Sohn) – Another one of Amy’s choreography. Some extraordinary movements there which look really good when everyone is doing it uniformly.
- My Next Love (Niels B Poulsen) – A very quick Viennese waltz by Niels to a ‘phantom of the opera’ feel music. Just got to move your feet a lil’ faster and you’ll feel the smoothness of the dance. This is the beginner floor split of Niels’ advanced dance: My Love.
- Ying Yang Cha (Niels B Poulsen) – Another good one by Niels. Also a beginner floor split to Niels’ own advanced dance: Don’t Drop Your Cha.
- Killa (Raymond Sarlemijn, Michael Sastrowitomo, Eleni de Kok) – A funky dance with LOTS of arms. Very enjoyable and a good practise for those who yearn to do arms!
- Good Good (Amy Christian-Sohn) – Love the ‘whoosh’ part! Always waiting for that part! Also the sexy hip rolls!
Another dance which she shared was my hot favourite Notice the Danger by Guyton Mundy. As I was busy enjoying myself on the dance floor, I did not managed to shoot the video. Aiyaaaaaa!!! What a waste 🙁
Anyway, it’s a good opportunity to meet up and catch up with the other line dance friends and also to meet new ones. It’s a fun 2-3 hours we had together and what more fun we get when a group of line dancers come together?! Looking forward to the next Amy’s workshop (2009), and I reckon, the number of participants should double up again this time, as it had over the past 3 years. 🙂
